When making your own dog steps, you are going to need someone who is an experienced carpenter to help you. You will need about 3 2×4 pieces of wood and 2 more regular pieces of wood for the sides of the stair. You will need to have carpet or a material with cushion that you wish to put on the stairs. Make sure the stairs feel comfortable to you to ensure they will be utilized by your dog. You can even personalize the stairs by sewing in pieces of fabric that may spell out the dogs name the options are endless, and a lot cheaper to.
If you do happen to have little children in the house, be sure that they do not mess with the dogs stairs. Some dogs will get territorial about what their things are. So it’s an issue of safety to not let your kids sit on them or play with them. The stairs may look cute to some, but they are made of wood and could hurt your little ones.
