Sometimes when a family goes on a vacation that will last a few days they don’t want to spend any money putting their pet in some kind of pet hotel or boarding place. But, by installing an automatic dog door, the family can leave knowing that it’s not necessary for someone to be at home letting Fido in an out whenever it’s necessary.

Where You Find Automatic Pet Doors

Most automatic pet dogs are bought for dogs, since they tend to be the most popular of pets. Dogs tend to need to go outside to relieve themselves and go inside to eat or enjoy the company of their masters. It’s quite common to see a house with an automatic dog door installed in areas where there is not much crime.

Normally with an automatic pet door the animal has on a collar which signals to the door to open and let them in. The collar is preprogrammed by the retailer or manufacturer and is usually offered along with the automatic pet door at a discount. In addition, cats can also wear the collar if you intend to let your cat go outside. This is specially useful for cats that spend more time outside that inside.

The system also allows guard dogs to follow intruders into the house if they break in, or out the yard, if they try to escape.

The automatic dog door is convenient to install and is normally just mounted on a door that leads outside of the home. Usually it means the back door, but a patio door or a garage door can be selected. Sometimes it is best to shop around for these things to make sure that you aren’t overpaying for something especially in these times of economic turmoil.
